This was spoken by his son in law at the funeral service..

On behalf of Sheridan and his family, I would like to thank all of you for coming here today to pay this man honor and respect
Speaking for myself, Mary and my daughter, I know our time with him was too short. This was a man who constantly gave of himself, never asking for anything in return. He was a man who served his country. He served the community through his participation in the Salvation Army. He served his church. And again serving the community in his work, helping to provide heat and the maintenance of the school where many children came to learn. He served his family as a devoted and loving father and grandfather, and a caring husband.
The measure of a man is not what he builds with his hands, or monetary and material possessions, but what he builds in the hearts of those he leaves behind, with love and memories.
This is the legacy of a man.
Sheridan, you will be missed. We love you. God bless you.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict 1950-1955.

We little knew that morning, that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; And though we can not see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again

God saw you were getting tired
And a cure was not meant to be
So he put his arms around you
And whispered come to me

A golden heart stop beating
Hard working hands now rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best
