The son of Charles G. and Elizabeth Carter Thornton. Brother to: Owen K; Isaac; Jacob D; Arabelle. Elizabeth Carter died soon after her last child was born and Charles G. Thornton married his cousin, Nancy Jane Griffis and they had the following children: Bessie and V. Delphine Thornton. Charles Wiley Thornton married Arabelle Mikell and they had the following children: Charles Robert; Thomas Jefferson; Odell; Alice Drucilla; bertie Agnes Thornton Thomas; Odessa Thornton Graham Palmer, Julian and Dewey.
