Allen "Gene" Eugene Bowman, 87, of Granite Falls died Saturday, February 26, 2022, at his residence.

Born March 5th, 1934, he was the son of the late Thomas Theodore Bowman and Viola Bowman.

He enjoyed riding with his special dog Luke, being with family and friends, and spending time time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He dedicated his life to working in the trucking industry. He worked his way up to President of W & L Motor Lines and later built SunBelt Furniture Xpress from the ground up.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margie Bowman, grandson Allen Bowman, brother Joseph Wayne Bowman, father Thomas Theodore Bowman, and mother Viola Bowman.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Randy Bowman of Maiden, grandson Daniel Bowman and Daniel's wife Kristy of Newton, stepdaughter Tommie Bowman of Texas, sister Jane Pike of Lexington, NC, grandson Donald Norman of Newton, great-grandchildren Aubrey and Riley Bowman of Newton, and step-grandchildren Maleah and Tanner Bowman of Texas.

The Reverend Jerry Hill will officiate the funeral service at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
