The 1900 Clay County census states Charles "Strauder" Austin married Lizzie Starling in 1899. Per 1920 Duval County Census, "Lizzie" Austin and husband Charles S. Austin had 3 sons: Lloyd L. Austin (16), Lester (12), Elzie (10) and one daughter Vera (7). Charles' death record states he was the son of Frank Austin and Ade Wilkinson, was a blacksmith helper, his death was accidental in Duval County 23JUL1922, and he was buried in Maxville 25JUL1922. Hazel Austin, the 1 yr., 10-month-old daughter of Lizzie and Charles, also died 23JUL1922 and was buried on 25JUL1922 (in Maxville, FL). Per Leona Hudson Hitzing's family history notes: Elizabeth was an older sister of her mother Margaret, and the twin sister of Emma Louise Starling McEwen. NOTE: Do not confuse her with Mary Elizabeth Austin Strickland (1876-1960, FAG22398574).

The death toll as the result of Saturday's night automobile accident, when a car plunged into a crowd of pedestrians on Enterprise street, in Jacksonville, was increased to three Sunday, when Mitchell Weeks, 25, one of the victims, died of his injuries. He died at 3 a. m., just one hour after Charles Strawder Austin, 42, passed away. Austin's twenty-one months -old daughter, Hazel, was almost instantly killed in the crash.
