Joyce "Jaye" Elaine Brower Simmons

Joyce "Jaye" Elaine Brower Simmons of McKinney, Texas passed away March 1, 2022 at the age of 86. She was born on October 5, 1935 to Lyle Manly Brower and Grace Maude (Thomas) Brower in El Dorado, Kansas. Jaye was raised in the First Christian Church in El Dorado. At Kansas State University she was an active member of the Chi Omega women's fraternity and was the first majorette in the K-State marching band. She played the saxophone, twirled and was named Homecoming Queen in 1957. Jaye was named Miss KAKE Land in 1958 and first runner-up in the Miss Kansas pageant after being crowned as Miss El Dorado. She worked as a free-lance fashion model in Dallas, Texas for many years appearing in print, television commercials and on the runway representing clothing designers and Niemen-Marcus. In 1960, Jaye was married to James Albert Simmons and later married David Thatcher in 2000 in Maui, Hawaii. Jaye loved music, the theater, dancing, traveling, trips to the casino and sports of all kinds and was an avid golfer and tennis player into her late 60's. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin and friend. Jaye will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Alisa Simmons Bartz and Gayla Simmons Pieczynski and husband, David, all of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Nicole Bartz Metral, Dylan Bartz, Blake Bartz, Angela Pieczynski, Anthony Pieczynski, Dawson Pieczynski, Madison Pieczynski; great-grandchildren, Marissa Plascencia, Skylar Pieczynski, and Camden Pieczynski; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Jaye was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jim Simmons; second husband, David Thatcher; and brother, Edwin Brower.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2022 at Pecan Grove Cemetery, 1701 McDonald, McKinney, Texas
