Pastor Norman C. "Norm" Shertzer, 92, of Manor Township, passed peacefully from time into eternity, to be with his Lord, on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at his residence, of pancreatitis. He was the husband of Verna E. Fry Shertzer, daughter of the late Albert and Ruth Fry, with whom he would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on March 31, 2022. He was born in Manor Township, son of the late Aaron N. and Mable Charles Shertzer. Most of his productive years centered around agriculture, where he operated a farm for 40 years and then later with his son Phil. Norm was a four year graduate of LMH, Class of 1948. It was here that the farm boy made new friends and broadened his acquaintances. In 1970, he was called to be a Pastor, and for the next 20 plus years, he served faithfully at the Slackwater and later at the Habecker Mennonite congregations. To augment his work as Pastor, he enrolled in classes at EMC and Ontario Mennonite Bible Institute for several winters. God gave this man many interests and abilities which he used to bless the lives of many people. His career began after high school with part-time work at Glick's Audio Sales, as a service technician, following that, as a full-time operator at the Lancaster Refuse Authority, for several years. Always ready for new activity, the next 18 years were engaged in operating a disposal service for five Acme Markets in the area. Another part-time work, for the next 12 years, was at the Dream Framer, Mountville, making picture frames. Norman enjoyed listening to and singing Christian Hymns. He led his first congregational song at the age of 12. In his younger years, he sang in many choruses and quartets, even to the streets of Philadelphia. Until very recently, he volunteered at the Columbia Re-Uzit Store, where he volunteered weekly for over 30 years and also served on the board for many years. He repaired and refurbished countless items for resale. Norman is presently a member of Life Mennonite Church, West Willow. To God be All the Glory!

Surviving in addition to his wife, four sons: Jay (Sandy) Shertzer, Fayetteville, TN; Phil (Joyce) Shertzer, Mountville; Nelson (Kim) Shertzer, Washington Boro and James (Michelle) Shertzer, Lancaster. Seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. One brother: John (Alma) Shertzer, Raleigh, NC. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

The Funeral Service will be held at Habecker Mennonite Church, 451 Habecker Church Road, Lancaster on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Randy Martin, officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.
