Born and spent his entire life in Omaha. Honorably served his country in the Army from December 1941 – October 1945. He spent 26 months overseas and was involved in the Aleutian Island Campaign. Diz was involved in sports his whole life. He played football, baseball, softball, basketball, wrestled, bowled, managed, coached, officiated, sponsored, and contributed to all sports. He coached men's, women's, coed, and youth teams. These teams won multiple championships. Member: Telephone Pioneer, American Legion Post #1; VFW Post #247; Air Force Association; Admiral Nimitz Foundation; National World Was II Memorial; National Museum U.S. Army; AAU Board of Managers; Aleutian Island World War II Vets Organization; S.W. Iowa and Nebraska Old Timers Baseball Club; Omaha Softball Association. He was the 35th inductee in the Omaha Softball Hall of Fame and Hall of Famer in the Omaha Oldtimers' Baseball Club and several others.
