Obituary:
On January 23, 1913, Marion Sandridge surrendered all claims on mortality to the angel of death. He died in Athens, Alabama, where he had gone to spend the winter with his daughter, Mrs. D. Wright. He was seventy-seven years old and served in the Confederate Army with the 17th Tennessee Regiment and was wounded but recovered and re-enlisted and received an honorable discharge and later got a pension that supported him in his last years. He was a fearless man in war and in peace, but loved a joke as long as he lived, a sample of which, he was court marshaled at one time for halting his general. He was married to Miss Rena Cummings in 1866 and leaves a wife and three daughters and two sons. Willie and Rome Sandridge were with him in his last hours. After funeral services by Elder White, he was buried Friday in Antioch Cemetery at Elkmont, Ala. He had been a devoted member of the Baptist church. Mrs. Sandridge was also sick and unable to attend the burial of her husband. Mr. Sandridge was a native of Franklin County, Tennessee.
