Sarah Ann Carey went over the Oregon Trail in 1847 with her parents, in the Elias Buell wagon train. She married William Henry McKune Mar 6 1851; they divorced in 1876.
Children included Anna, Martha, James, Ellen, John and Melvin.
The 1847 wagon train seems to have been the basis of long term connections. William's brother Robert married another member of the 1847 Buell train, Sarah Ann Buell. Amanda Ellen Carey, sister of Sarah Ann, married Cyrus Buell, son of Elias. Anna L. McKune, daughter of Sarah Ann and William, married Robert B. Putman, who was the son of another member of the 1847 Buell train.
