"Elmer A. Nelson, 86, of 9309 E. 67th Terrace, died Thursday at Lakeside Hospital. He was born in Union County, Ky., and had lived in this area 55 years. Mr. Nelson was a self-employed carpenter before retiring. He leaves two sons, William G. Nelson of North Kansas City and Robert R. Nelson of Oak Grove, Okla.; three daughters, Mrs. Geneva Rowland of Pleasanton, Kan., Mrs. Mary Beatrice Cann of Raytown; and Mrs. Margaret Schreckhise of Kansas City; two stepsons, Sydney Noel and Dale Noel, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Marie Powell, all of Kansas City; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Mattingly of Mount Vernon, Ind., and Mrs. Catherine Hopson of Rich Hills, Mo.; 26 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Floral Hills Chapel; burial in Floral Hills Cemetery." The Kansas City Star, October 3, 1980
