Steve was born November 4, 1960 to Betty Gene (McGuire) Massie and Dan Louis Massie in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Steve grew up working at The Massie Pole Yard in Ellington, MO. He graduated from Ellington High School in 1979 and went to Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Steve was a self-described simple man who enjoyed the outdoors and the occasional moon pie. Steve took great pride in being from the Ozarks and treated opening day of deer season like Christmas morning. Steve was known for his strong work ethic, his quirky sense of humor and willingness to put others above himself. He was proud of his family and he loved his Grandchildren, Lincoln Paul and Hallie Blair Massie very much.
Steve is proceeded in death by Son Lucas Allen Massie, Father and Mother, Dan and Betty Massie, and Brother-In-Law Ben Parrish.
He is survived by sons Andrew (Ashley) Massie of Nashville, TN, Travis (Kristen) Massie, Grandchildren Lincoln Paul and Hallie Blair Massie all of Farmington, MO, siblings David (Trena) Massie of Elsinore, MO, Dale (Carol) Massie of Ellington, MO, Brenda Parrish of Walnut Grove, MO and Nathan (Linda) of Salt Lake City, UT. Steve is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues and friends who were like family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be mailed to Missouri State Parks, Business Services Program, Donation, PO Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102. Checks should be payable to Missouri State Parks and the memo line should note "donation on behalf of Steven A. Massie."
