Benjamin was a 1940 graduate of Havelock High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was a Staff Sergeant Technician for the 18th Airborne Army Corps in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a plumber for 60 plus years and was a member of the Plumber's union and the American Legion. He grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and lived in Rio Rancho New Mexico for 18 years, before moving to Marionville nine years ago.
Benjamin is survived by two daughters, Mary Miller and her husband, James, of Omaha, Nebraska and Patricia Stevenson and her husband, Gary, of Marionville, Missouri; two sons, James Laws and his wife, Sandra, of Milford, Delaware and Richard Laws and his wife, Jean, of Lincoln, Nebraska; two sisters, Beverly Baskett of Hayden, Idaho, and Joyce Johnson of Ogdensburg, New York; ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Elnora, son Jerry Laws, two wives, Hazel and Anna and ten siblings.
Burial will be held at a later date at the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska. Arrangements are under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri.
