Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. For over forty years, Mary owned and operated Harmes Una Pizza alongside her husband, Wayne. Prior to operating the restaurant, she worked at Whirlpool Ordinance, where she worked on the assembly line that manufactured Bouncing Betty ammunitions. Occasionally, when she was feeling lucky, she'd stop by the racetrack or the casino to dance with Lady Luck. She also enjoyed playing bingo and singing karaoke. One of Mary's favorite pastimes was also visiting family gravesites once a year to pay respects and bring flowers. She would travel all the way to Wisconsin and back to do so. Mary did stay very busy with the family business, however, there were no bigger lights in her life than her children and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children, Pam Harmes, Michael Harmes Sr., Dru Alan Sr., Tracy (Scott) Bedwell, and Daniel (Shannon) Harmes; her grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Hillhouse, Ella-Marie Hillhouse, Michael Wayne Harmes Jr., Dru Harmes Jr., Serenity Harmes, Jordan (McKenzie Cobb) Bedwell, Baylee (Jackson Strong) Bedwell, Brooke Bedwell, Devon Holly, Kaitlyn Holly, Dante Harmes, and Chace Harmes; an especially close niece, Linda Drews, in addition to many more nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Along with her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Wayne E. Harmes; and her twelve siblings.
Sunset Funeral Home will be hosting services for Mary on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Visitation will start at 11:00am with the service to immediately follow at 1:00pm.
