"James Connor Covington, 75, Liberty, died today at his home after an illness of three years. Mr. Covington was born in Kentucky and came to the Liberty area in 1909. He worked for several years as a farmer and cattle feeder. He became an employee of the Missouri highway department 38 years ago and was a maintenance foreman when he retired in 1955. Mr. Covington was a member of the Liberty Presbyterian church. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Ruth Wilson Covington of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Summers and Mrs. Eunice Bruce, both of Liberty; a son, James E. Covington of Malmo, Neb.; a sister, Miss Lena Covington of Liberty; a brother, John Covington of Liberty; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Monday at the Liberty Presbyterian church. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens." The Kansas City Star, April 16, 1960
