WILL: The will of his father Philip Rasin, dated February 4, 1771 and probated March 5, names his brothers and his wife Hannah but no children. His son Philip Freeman Rasin was not named because he was born posthumously on October 4, 1771. The will of Philip F. Rasin's maternal grandfather Isaac Freeman names daughter Hannah Burneston and grandson Philip Freeman Rasin. Several deeds shows Philip F. Rasin selling land that belonged to his father Philip Rasin and his mother Hannah who married thirdly William Burneston after Philip's death (her second husband was John Gleaves whom she had children by): "which said lands the said Philip F. Rasin inherited thro his father Philip Rasin as heir at in tail and which said land are now in the possession of the said William and Hannah Burneston and Philip F. Rasin." See Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin Vol. 36 No. 2 Spring 1995.

Family Bible of Philip F. Rasin, copy sent to me by descendent Sally K. Craig. Published in Maryland Bible Records by Henry Peden and Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin.

BIRTH: Philip Freeman Rasin was born Oct 4, 1771, per bible. Son of Philip Rasin 1740-1771 and Hannah Freeman 1754-1821 (She married 2nd John Gleaves and 3rd William Burneston)

DEED: Deed Book BC #4 p 230 1795 William Burneston and Hannah his wife, Thomas Rasin, and Philip F. Rasin selling the land of Philip Rasin which Hannah stands seized of as her estate of dower. Philip F. Rasin inherited through his father Philip Rasin and Thomas Rasin entitled to part of the land upon termination of her dower.

DEED: Deed Book TW #1 p. 263 1799 shows Philip Rasin who died in 1771 was the oldest son of Margaret Rasin deceased, that Philip Rasin married Hannah who after his death married William Burneston and when Philip died he left only Hannah Burneston and son Philip as his heirs.

MARRIAGE: Philip Freeman Rasin and Phebe Wilson were married 1801 by the Rev. George Deshield per bible

Army records show he was a Capt. in 1809.
Philip F Rasin Company: 33 REG'T (SPENCER'S) MARYLAND MILITIA. Rank - Induction: PRIVATE Rank - Discharge: PRIVATE Roll Box: 171 Microfilm Publication: M602

DEATH: Bible record said Philip Freeman Rasin departed this life Oct 23 1820 in the 50th year of his age.

DAR #22702 Julia Angela Rasin Craig joined the DAR on Jan 24 1898 incorrectly as a descendant of Capt. William Rasin. She was the dau of Isaac Freeman Rasin, son of Robert W. Rasin, son of Philip F. Rasin. Her sister Gertrude Rasin Salshell #22703 joined under Thomas Ringgold. He is not the son of William Rasin as many printed sources say. Also the DAR papers for him are incorrect. DB #4 p 230 and TW #1 p 263 show his father is Philip who died in 1771 and Hannah who married later a Gleaves and then a Burneston.
See Maryland Genealogical Society bulletin Vol 36 No. 2 Spring 1995 by Christos Christou, Jr. which cleared up confusion.
