She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, James A. Polk.
Born in New Haven on January 21, 1929, Bernice was the daughter of the late Bruno and Agnes (Furtak) Golembiewski.
She was a proud mother to Adria (Robert) Carabetta, Janice Lynch, and predeceased by Kimmy (Rocco) Vumbaco; survived by three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; her brother Joseph Golembiewski of West Haven, and predeceased by her siblings, the late Adele Ryan, Wanda Losaw, Edward Golembiewski, Alice Baldyga, and Lottie Golembiewski.
Known to all as Bernie, and to her family as the "Queen of Canasta," she lived a rich, full life and her spunky, fun-loving energy was contagious.
Calling hours for Bernie were held at the Swan Funeral Home in Clinton.
Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook.
