Catherine E. (Hoddy) Brown
Catherine E. "Katie" Brown, of Ponca City, died Nov. 13, 2002, at her
residence. She was 64.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002,
at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. John J. Michalicka, Pastor,
officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A 5 P.M.
vigil service will be held Friday, Nov. 15, at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel.
Katie was born in Ponca City Dec. 13, 1937, the daughter of Fred W. and Helena E. Rempe Hoddy.
She was raised in Ponca City and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in 1956.
Following her graduation she went to Oklahoma City to attend St. Anthony's
Nursing School.
On April 12, 1958, she and Jimmie P. Brown were united in marriage in Ponca City.
She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had served on the bereavement committee. Katie enjoyed camping, cooking and baking, ceramics, collecting dolls and swimming.
She also enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas, attending her morning swim class
where she saw all of her swimming friends, and attending annual fish fries where she could visit with others. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Katie is survived by her loving husband, Jimmie; her four children and their
spouses, Fred and Raye Lynne Brown, Paul and Julie Brown, Martha Brown, and
Hank and Kim Brown, all of Ponca City; her grandchildren Angel Betsy Cobble,
Lacy Renae Cobble, Lyndsey Morgan Cobble, Chandler Kate Brown, Allison Nicole
Brown, Mollie Rebecca Brown, Michael Dillon Brown, and Chancey Dillon Brown,
all of Ponca City; her brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Kay Hoddy and
sister, Mary Ann Boor, all of Ponca City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John and Joe Hoddy;
brother-in-law, Alvin Boor; and an infant granddaughter, Amanda Dawn Brown.
Memorial donations may be made in Katie's name to St. Mary's Catholic School Foundation, 415 S. 7th, Ponca City, OK 74601 or to Hospice, 1904 N. Union,
