Chance D. Heath, 12, of San Angelo died Sunday afternoon, March 22, 1998, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 27, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Lynn Rutland, pastor of Carlsbad Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Grape Creek Cemetery.

Chance was born Oct. 4, 1985, in San Angelo. Survivors include his parents, Tommy and Bobbie Heath of San Angelo; a brother, Brad Martin of California; two sisters, Shelly Heath of San Angelo and Shady Colon of Brownwood; his grandparents, Marilyn Brewer of Big Spring and Joe and Sharon Brewer of San Angelo; his great-grandmother, Mable Capers of Whitney; aunts and uncles, Belinda and Scott Weddell of Water Valley, Rebecca Hinshaw of San Angelo, Brian and Pam O'Neal, Ronny and Bea O'Neal and Cindy and Robert Cotton, all of Lubbock, and Diane and Dwight Able of Florida; and numerous cousins and friends at the Boys Ranch including his house parents, Jay and Cindy Black.

Chance was to be part of the McGill Elementary sixth grade graduating class of 1998. He was a member of Ms. Baggs' class. I remember the entire sixth grade had to write letters to him after the accident, and I saw his mom come to collect them after school one day. Chance seemed like a sweet kid, and my hope is that through this memorial, his memory may live on forever. Rest in peace, Chance.
