St. Martinville - Funeral services will be conducted for Russel 'Boy' Albert, age 77, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 11 a .m.

Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum.

A native of St. Martinville, LA, Mr. Albert passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. Mr. Albert was a sugarcane farmer for over 60 years and served in the LA National Guard Reserves, retiring with 23 years of service. He also served numerous terms on Farm Bureau Board, St. Martin Sugar Cooperative, Board of the Farm Service Agency, and The St. Martin Parish Sugarcane Advisory Committee. In his free time he enjoyed fishing on his houseboat, cooking and gardening, but most especially, he loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Albert is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Melba Landry. He leaves behind his son and four daughters; Curry (Vickie) Albert of St. Martinville, Joan (Edward) Cormier of Henderson, Terry (Raymond) Hebert of Loreauville, Glenda (Jacques) LeBlanc of Katy, TX, and Jennifer (Kevin) Ebarb of St. Martinville.

He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren; Ryan, Derek, Jacob and Megan Albert; Jade and Elliot Cormier; Brandon, John and Josh Hebert; Jacques LeBlanc, Jr.; Madia, Lane and Logan Smith. In addition, he leaves a great grandson, Addison Hebert.

He leaves behind his brothers; Wilbert, Clesma, Burton and Roland Albert, all of St. Martinville; and his sisters; Irene Theriot of Parks, Sidney Mae Louviere of St. Martinville, Helen Bienvenu of Arnaudville, Clara Wiltz of St. Martinville, and Livia Olivier of Catahoula.

Mr. Albert is preceded in death by his parents, Moise Albert Sr. and Gertrude Blanchard; his brothers, Ambrose Albert and Moise Albert, Jr.; and his sisters, Florence Hebert and Loraine Louviere.
