Born in Dallas, Texas on June 3, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Carlos Logan Tarter and Margie Ruth Tarter of Dallas, Texas. Margie was the loving wife of the late Jack Dabney Hicks Sr., her husband of 54 years, who passed away, May 15, 1995.
Margie Ruth Hicks is survived by three children: Jack Dabney Hicks, Jr. of Upper Marlboro,Maryland, Annette Hicks Higginbotham of Fernandina Beach, Florida,
and Margie Ruth Kerman of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, She is also survived by five grandchildren: Laura Stedman, Andrew Bryan, Jason Higginbotham, Jerry Higginbotham and Benjamin Kerman. Margie Ruth Hicks is also survived by four great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
Margie Ruth Hicks and her husband Jack Dabney Hicks, Sr. dedicated 30 years of their lives in service to their country. She, as an extraordinarily supportive and capable Navy wife, devoted mother of three children, volunteered as a Red Cross Gray Lady at military hospitals, and delivered meals on wheels to the elderly; while he, as a distinguished member of the United States Navy, served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. In honor of their dedicated service to their country, their final resting place will be at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
A Memorial Service for Margie Ruth Hicks will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at
10:00 am at the gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery. Those interested in attending the Memorial Service must first gather at the Visitors Center at Arlington National Cemetery at
9:30 am.
