Jude Bordelon, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond.
After a boyhood in Bordelonville, a move to New Orleans and then Chalmette led to marriage, family, and long career as an electrician at Lone Star and LaFarge. An avid gardener, he brought the country to the suburbs with rows of tomatoes, okra, and peppers. Katrina meant a return to his roots and a warm welcome by his extended family. A born storyteller, he could turn a group of men eating sandwiches at work into a comedy sketch. His outgoing nature meant a steadily widening circle of friends and acquaintances. And he would do anything for a laugh – including posing for a picture with a feather boa in the aisle of a big box store. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Bordelon & Pliney Bordelon.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty L. Bordelon of Bordelonville; daughters, Bonnie Chambon (Michael) of Hammond, and Lisa Usner (Val) of Pineville; son, David Bordelon (Diane) of Fair Haven, New Jersey. His six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren were a constant source of joy.
Visitation will begin at 10:00am until 12:00pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at St. Peter's Church Hall in Bordelonville.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home (318-964-2324) 6608 Porterie St. Mansura, LA 71350.
