Gus resided in Colorado for 39 years. He also lived in Hoquiam, Washington. Gus considered the love of his family his life's greatest blessing. Gus and his siblings were best friends and faced joy, laughter, tears and strife as they danced through life.
Gus shared his life with Roberta for more than 20 years and on January, 7, 2022 they tied the knot. Their marriage was full of adventures and many incredible memories. Their unconditional love was surreal. Gus and Roberta found in each other their best friend, greatest support, biggest comfort and strongest motivation.
Gus proudly served in the Army for 14 years; he ranked E-6 and earned badges as a Sharpshooter, Marksman, as well as a Service Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a loyal man and his bravery and sacrifice helped to keep our country strong and safe.
Gus was an avid fisherman, hunter and an outdoorsman. He loved any opportunity to be in the quiet of nature. He was a member of the Blackfeet Nation and enjoyed playing poker.
Gus knew that a life lived for others was worthwhile. He rose by lifting others and he knew the purpose of life was not to be just happy. He was compassionate, generous, helpful and empathic. He impacted so many individuals and elevated them. Everyone agreed that he was an honest, hardworking and wise person who knew when to take risks and when not to.
His greatest delight was his children. Gus spent quality time with his folks practicing gratitude and encouraging laughter. To his children, he was their roots and foundation. Gus planted the seed that they based their life on; family is not something it is everything. To his grandchildren, he was a superhero and a legend. Ultimately, he was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Gus was preceded in death by his son, Gustave Robert Holmin Jr; brother, Bobby Holmin and sisters, Elsie Boyer, Carol Christensen, Cindy Holmin and Babette Holmin.
Gus lives on in memory of the hearts and minds of his wife, sons daughters, brothers, sisters, uncle of Colorado Springs, Colorado, eight grandchildren, as well as many, many relatives and friends.
