Man Discovers Wife Dead of Gas in Home
Charles Stevens, 1233 1/2 South Thirteenth Street, was awakened by the smell of gas early Monday. He found his wife, Ruth, 36, with her head in the oven and the jet open, police said. Efforts by the Fire Department Rescue Squad to revive the woman failed. Police found a note. It read: "Couldn't go on."
