Virginia was born February 6, 1921 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late John and Sarah (Clement) Artz. She attended Manitowoc Public Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1938. Virginia took secretarial courses at Manitowoc Vocational School before beginning her working career. On September 2, 1943 she was united in marriage to Shelton H. Hintz in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2005.
Virginia worked for several places, including Attorney George Laird of Fond du Lac, J.F. Ahern Co., Care Center Nursing Home and Home Health Caregivers before her retirement. She was a volunteer at St. Agnes Hospital, Samaritan Free Health Clinic and Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.
Virginia enjoyed going to church and she loved to sing, especially hymns. She loved to read and loved word puzzles. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. As a child, she attended the Riverview Presbyterian Chapel in Manitowoc.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: MarJean & Gary Miller, Turtle Creek, PA; three grandchildren: Christopher Morin, Shad Morin, Kimberly Hintz; three great grandchildren: Daniel, Anna and Marcus Morin; one brother: William Artz, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Beatrice Artz; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents John & Sarah Artz, her husband Shelton Hintz, one son Loren Hintz and several siblings and spouses: Sylvester & Selma Artz, Ervin & Laverna Artz, Rosalie & Alvin Conradt, Norbert Artz, Fred & Heidi Artz, John Artz, James & Virgy Artz, Roger & Mary Ann Artz and Gloria Artz.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers. Burial will take place at Lamartine Cemetery, Fond du Lac, following services.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
