Mr. Akridge was born April 25, 1941, the son of the late James A. Akridge and the late Nina Mae Durden Akridge. He retired from Thiele Kaolin Company after 32 years as a heavy equipment operator, spending most of his time operating the drag line. In his spare time, Mr. Akridge enjoyed doing mechanic work, especially on antique cars. He was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, James E. Akridge.
Survivors include: his son, Lewis Akridge of Swainsboro; sisters, Edna Johnson of Oconee, Louise Whitehurst of Mt. Dora, FL, Lula Mae Davidson of Locust Grove, and Janice Rochester of Trenton; and many nieces and nephews.
