Gwendolyn M. "Cookie" Appleman, 91, of Williamsburg and a current resident of The Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, passed away Monday morning, April 11, 2022 at the home. She was born in Alum Bank, Bedford County, daughter of the late Clark and Mary "Mimi" Claycomb. On January 24, 1949 she married Drew W. Appleman Sr. in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2018.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Jessica Appleman and Joshua Brua; a son-in-law, David Limbert; and a brother, Lewis Claycomb.

Cookie was a 1948 graduate of Williamsburg High School. She was employed as an Avon Lady and also worked at Cove Shoe Factory, Martinsburg and as a cook for Carousel Restaurant "Gilda's", Williamsburg and also Bob's Cradle Restaurant in Canoe Creek.

She was a longtime, faithful member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she served as custodian for many years. Cookie also served on the Williamsburg Playground Association and for many years as a board member for the Williamsburg Community Center.

Cookie loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed being a Cub Scout Den Mother and helping at many of the Williamsburg High School Athletic Booster events.

A private celebration of cookie's life is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg. Memorial contributions in memory of Cookie may be given to Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 431 W. Second St., Williamsburg, PA 16693.
