BUCHANAN - Wanda M. Payne, 57, of East Smith Street, died Saturday in her home after an illness. Survivors include a daughter, Kem Simpson of Buchanan; four sons, Tom Quick, Charlie Biggs, Roland Payne and George Payne, all of Niles; five sisters, Phyllis Mudd [maternal-half-sister], Judy Wedding [maternal-half-sister] and Donna Smith [sister], all of Niles, and Barbara J. Petty [paternal-half-sister] and Frances Gay [paternal-half-sister], both of Portland, Ore.; and two brothers, Donald "Oscar" Quick [paternal-half-brother] of South Bend and Ronald "Butch" Quick [paternal-half-brother] of Wisconsin. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, where friends may call one hour before services.

Wanda was the daughter of Elmer Martin QUICK (1919-1983) and Carribelle "Carrie" SPAIN (1920-2003). Wanda was born while her mother was married to Mr. STUCKER; thus, Wanda was given STUCKER as a surname at birth. During Wanda's life, it was commonly known that she was the daughter of Mr. QUICK. Sometime after 2015, autosomal DNA proved that Mr. QUICK was Wanda's father.
