Sidney Johnson Biggs, 86, of Route 1, Bluefield, Va., (Abbs Valley) died at his residence at 1:10 a.m. Saturday. In 1949 he retired from Pocahontas Fuel Co. of Jenkinjones. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Local 6193. Born in Beckley, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Reason Biggs, Beckley natives. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Sloss Biggs; four sons, Herbert Biggs, of Ocala, Fla., Dorsey Biggs of Sistersville, N.J., Bob Biggs of Orlando Fla., Charles Biggs of Allison, Pa.; one stepson, Grat Sloss of Abbs Valley; one step-daughter, Mrs. Paul Poszich of Abbs Valley; two brothers, Harold Biggs of Beckley, John Biggs of Madison; one sister, Mrs. Georgia Snider of Charleston; 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at the Pocahontas Union Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens of Princeton.
