LEE, Mr. Charles Thomas Jr., 72, of Richmond, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, slipped from this world January 6, 2008 at his residence after a brief illness. He confessed Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age, and was baptized at the Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, Richmond, Va. We never got a chance to say a final goodbye, but he was loved by many, and will be missed tremendously by all. Mr. Lee was a native of Richmond, Va., born the son of the late Charles T. Lee Sr. and Edna Williamson Lee.
He graduated from Armstrong High School, Class of 1954, as a star athlete and Legendary Basketball Player. After graduation, he joined the United States Military, was educated, and graduated at the Military Academy, Cheyenne Wyo., where he studied communications technology. Subsequently, he proudly served in the United States Air Force, and during his military career, which spanned 20 years, he toured throughout the continent of Europe, other foreign nations, and for the Department of Defense (Pentagon), where he served his country as a Classified Security Military Intelligence Officer, and subsequently analyzed communications and telecommunications infrastructure.
In 1974, Mr. Lee began a second career in public service for the Commonwealth of Virginia, and served a leadership position as a State Telecommunications Systems Planner until his retirement in the year 2000. He received numerous outstanding awards for his public service to our country and for his public service to the Commonwealth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and he is survived by his soul mate, best friend, companion, confidante, and beloved wife, Dr. Marion Brydie Lee of the residence; a stepson, Dr. Daryl Richard Brydie (Dr. Jennie); and grand "baby girl" daughter, Little Miss Darrielle Ximena Brydie; three sisters, Mrs. Doris Lee White and Mrs. Peggy Ann Lee Richardson, both of Richmond, and Mrs. Ernestine Lee Saunders of Townsen, Del.; two brothers, Alfred D. Lee and Howard R. Lee, both of Richmond; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Patricia Lee and Mrs. Agnis Lee, both of Richmond, and Ms. Norma B. Turner of Manassas; three brothers-in-law, Mr. Jerome Richardson of Richmond, Charles Saunders of Philadelphia, Pa., and Reverend Robert L. Bullock Jr. of Norfolk; one aunt, Deacon Esther Williamson Patterson of Richmond; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members, and friends, including Ms. Marilyn Weaver, Dr. Beverly Cleveland, Dr. Mary Churchill, all of Richmond, and Mr. and Mrs. Roland Jackson of Hampton.
Throughout his life, Mr. Lee was committed to his family, with whom he leaves his legacy, integrity, honor, faith and love. He remains an uplifting spirit to his wife, family, his Armstrong High School classmates, and to all those whose paths he crossed.
His remains rested at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral services was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, 14 West Duval St., Richmond, Va., with Reverend Tyrone Nelson officiating. The family received friends following the service at the church.
