PAYNE BYERS
DE QUEEN, Ark.-Payne Byers, 73, a retired farmer and stockman of the Valley Community, died at 11:40 a.m. Monday in a Benton, Ark., hospital.
He was a lifetime resident of Sevier County.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ollie Byers; two sons, Hub Byers of De Queen, and Louis "Tuffy " Byers of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Graves of Pinehurst, Idaho, Mrs. Esther Pearce of Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. Merele Powell of Gillham, Ark; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Forbes of Lubbock, Texas, and Mrs. Lee Ethridge of El Dorado; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in the Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be M.B. Self, Ernie Lignitz, Jesse Johnson, Winfred Morphew, K. Best and Robert Higgins.
