Walter C. Baker, 79, formerly of 913 E. 26th St., died Sunday at his home in Stockton, Mo., after sudden illness.
Mr. Baker was born in Springport and attended school there. He moved to Muncie in 1945 and lived here until moving to Greensburg in 1971. He moved to Stockton 2 months ago.
He was retired from Norfolk and Western and was a member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
He is survived by a son, Arthur Baker, Muncie; two daughters, Beverly (Mrs. Charles) Berg, Stockton, and Barbara (Mrs. Roscoe) Gibson, Montezuma; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and a niece and nephew.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel, with Rev. Edward Pease officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory. Calling hours at the mortuary are 7-9 p.m. Thursday and before the service Friday.
