Mrs. Ruekle was born Oct. 11, 1912, in Pluto, Texas, to the late William Harrison and Florence (Ward) Goodman. "Tooty", a nickname given her by her father as a baby, was a graduate of Milford High School. Formerly of San Antonio, she relocated to DeSoto in 1982 to be closer to her family.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of DeSoto. Tooty loved to cook for her family and friends, sharing her delicious recipes at holiday events and casual gatherings, always making guests feel welcome in her home. She prided herself on being the family historian so whenever anyone needed to recall a forgotten birthday or anniversary, Tooty always had most events recorded in her family bible.
Graveside services were held Sunday, June 5, 2005 in the Comal County Cemetery in New Braunfels, Texas, under the direction of West/Hurtt Funeral Home. Harold Sassman officiated.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 27 years, Norman A. Ruekle; one brother, William H. Goodman Jr.; and two sisters, Gladys McKenna and Beatrice Taylor.
She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, James E. and Rose Nell Goodman; nieces Chlotea Harrison and Melissa Greene; nephews, James Taylor and wife, Becky, and Ross Taylor; along with several other nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Sandy and Paul Buckley of DeSoto and Charlotte Boucher of Duncanville. "Tooty will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever."
