Newell's death record indicates that he died in Faribault County. His obituary says he was buried in the "North Cemetery" which is another name for this cemetery. The obituary also indicates his minor children lived in Winnebago, presumably where Newell lived at the time of his death.

Newell was sometimes called "Dick," and so occasionally he was incorrectly listed as Richard in records.

The following obituary is from a clipping from an unidentified newspaper. Newell's age listed as 54 years is incorrect, it should have been 64 years old.

"Newell Rufus Blow was born in Michigan, Aug. 20, 1852. His boyhood days were spent in the State of his birth. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Frances Hunn, to which union ten children were born, eight of whom survive both mother and father. The surviving children are: Mrs. Emily J. Nichols, Forestburg, S.D.; Miss Lennie L. Harper, Winnebago, Minn; John W. Blow, Mankato, Minn; Homer D. and James Blow, Forestburg, S.D.; Newell E. Blow, Dell Rapids, S.D.; Clyde E. Blow, Forestburg, S.D.; and Mrs. Alta M. Geddes, Ellensdale, N.D. Very shortly after his marriage he removed to S.D. where for a period of years he resided. He then moved to Minnesota, which state has since been his home. In 1896 he was united in marriage for the second time, Miss Ida May Stratton becoming his bride. To this union seven children were born, six of whom survive their father. These are Mrs. Anna E. Rose, of Remer, Minn, and Theodore Albert, Clara A., Frank O., Dora M., and Warnie G. Blow, all of Winnebago. For some time Mr. Blow has been in poor health. His final illness was but a few weeks duration. During his last illness he made confession of his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Master and united with the Presbyterian Church. The comfort and help experienced from his confessing of Christ was a matter of great joy to all who knew him, and in that faith he quietly passed away Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, April 15th, at the age of 54 years 7 months, and 25 days. He is survived by his wife, 14 children, 18 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Also by one brother and one sister who reside in Michigan. Funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian Church at 2 P.M., Tuesday, by the pastor, interment in the North cemetery."
