Mr. John Lassen.— The death occurred at Maryborough on Friday of Mr. John Lassen, aged 89 years and nine months. Mr. Lassen, who was born in Denmark, arrived in Queensland by the sailing ship Hershel, on July 6, 1872. He is survived by three sons, Messrs. George, Frank and Norman Lassen, all of Maryborough, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One son, Andrew, made the supreme sacrifice in France in World War No. 1. The late Mr. Lassen was very proud when all his sons' enlisted in the A.I.F. and were all in khaki together. One grandson. Pilot Officer Rainsford Lassen, is serving with the R.A.F. in England. Mr. Lassen's wife predeceased him 20 years ago. The late Mr. Lassen was a well-known building contractor, and in his 70 years in Maryborough he had erected a large number of buildings. One of the oldest members of the Oddfellows' Lodge, he will be much missed by his many friends. During the last few years he had lived a retired life at Torquay.
