Portland - Raymond Elton Granberry, 65, died Friday morning, September 22, 1989 in a Corpus Christi hospital.

He was born in St. Paul, Texas on July 24, 1924 to E. H. and Mary Hunt Granberry. He was raised on a farm in the Sodville, Texas area and had resided in Sinton until 1969 when he and his family moved to Portland, Texas. He had served as a flight instructor at Brayton Flying School in Cuero, Texas from 1942 until 1945. He then served in the U. S. Army Air Corps and upon discharge returned to Sinton where he was in the farming business. He served as a right-of-way guard for the San Patricio Municipal Water District and later worked as an independent agent for Central Power and Light Company. He joined the company in 1971 and worked in the right-of-way department as manager of land and right-of-way. He was supervisor of property records with CP&L until his death.

Survivors are his wife, Betty Wynn Granberry of Portland, Texas; his sons, Ray Wynn (Dusty) Granberry of Austin, Lee Byron and Jon Paul Granberry both of Portland, Texas, and Joe Dana Granberry of Pflugerville, Texas; a daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Pennell of Sinton; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Henry Ella Kellum of Sinton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert F. DeWolfe officiating. Interment will follow in the Sinton Cemetery.
