Wilbur L. Umberger, 95, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on March 12, 2022, at Sabal Palms in Largo Florida. He was born on March 5, 1927, in his parents' home North of Muncie, IN to Benjamin F. & Clara L. (Huffer) Umberger. He was a lifelong resident of Delaware County. He lived in or within sight of his parents' home virtually his entire life. He graduated from Royerton High School in 1945 and immediately joined the army and was stationed in Washington, DC through the end of WW2. Wilbur was a lifelong Christian. In 1951 he married Barbara D. Cochran from Anderson, IN, who shared his strong faith and commitment. He attended Center Chapel Church and was its longest member.

Born and raised on his father's farm, Wilbur was a successful farmer himself who also carried the mail on weekends. After building a substantial new porch to his farmhouse Wilbur decided he could build complete homes so he bought land for his own subdivision, The Hamlet, and built homes including a new home on his farm for his own family. As a home builder he received many awards from the Muncie Home Builders Association.

He loved his children and taught them love, responsibility, trust, kindness, he was known to say the only thing you can own is your character.

He was preceded in death by his Daughter Connie Jo, Umberger, his parents, all of his siblings, 4 brothers and 1 sister.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Umberger (the girl he fell in love with because she was different from all the other girls) They celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2021.
