9th Baronet of Barrington Hall. He was the son of Sir Fitzwilliam Barrington, 8th Baronet, and his wife, Lady Jane (Hall) Barrington. Educated at Eton College and Trinity Hall, Cambridge, he succeeded his father as Baronet. Sir John served in the House of Commons from 1780 to 1796. He died unmarried and his younger brother, Fitzwilliam, inherited the title.
