Eula Mae (Taylor) Baumgartner was born to Ethel Olive (Chesterman) Taylor & Joseph Marion Taylor on a farm in southwest Kansas in 1929, the middle of 7 children. She accepted Jesus as her Savior when she was an early teen and played piano, accordion, and sang in quartets in churches & tent revivals. She met her future husband, Roy Baumgartner, at one of these churches and they married in 1950. They had a wheat farm near Laverne, OK, but changed course and moved to Oklahoma City in 1953.

Eula Mae started her own sewing business in 1955, working out of the front room of the home, which she continued to do until she was 74 years old in 2003. She decisively closed her business to care for her husband Roy, who was suffering from Alzheimer's. She was the hardest worker, always doing everything to the best of her ability. She couldn't say no to anyone who asked for her sewing skills and made costumes for Christmas plays for First Baptist Church and Village Baptist Church. She sewed for both daughters and enjoyed sewing for her 3 grandsons, making clothes and costumes for them. Rhonda said that her mother "sewed opportunities" by sewing to pay for educational things for her daughters and grandsons—such as piano lessons, cello lessons, books, church trips, and sports fees.

After Eula Mae was retired, she did things that she hadn't had the time to do when she was working such as serving as an officer for En Ami Book Club and reading stacks of Christian historical fiction. She loved singing in the Village Baptist Church choir until she could no longer read the music. Her favorite thing in the world was teaching preschool children at First Baptist Church & Village Baptist Church!

Eula Mae's family is deeply grateful to the medical people who cared for her the past few years: Dr. Jeffrey Cruzan, Dr. Ronald White, Dr. Jon Blaschke, Dr. Richard Lane, Dr. Ralph Hester. They also wish to thank all the staff at Baptist Village. They were kind, understanding, and beyond helpful. They are truly angels here on earth. Thanks to Eula Mae's faithful Sunday School teacher who continued to visit her, Helen Prickett-Day.

Eula Mae was pre-deceased by her parents; 4 siblings; and her husband, Roy of 61 years. She is survived by one sister, Josephine Gearheart and one brother, Bud Taylor, both of Kansas; her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda & Martin Malahy; three grandsons--Kirk Malahy, his wife Allison, their 2 children, Finn and Sadhbh Annabelle (of Ireland); Michael Malahy, his wife Kelly McGrath-Malahy, their 2 daughters, Lilith and Laurel (of OKC); Kevin Malahy, his wife Lisa, and their son, Nathan Roy (of Canada); and daughter, Deborah Rosa Baumgartner.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Village Baptist Church, 10600 N. May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK, 73120: Music Ministry or Children's Ministry.

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." Colossians 3:23 (ESV)
