Vice Admiral, R.N., 3rd Coghill Baronet of Coghill. Upon the death of his older brother, Sir John Thomas Coghill, 2nd Baronet, he inherited the title. He was the son of Sir John (Cramer) Coghill, 1st Coghill Baronet of Coghill and Mary Haut (Coghill). The 1st Baronet was born John Cramer but upon the death of his cousin, Hester (Coghill) Moore he assumed by Royal license the surname Coghill. Vice Admiral Sir Josiah was married twice:
1) Sophia Dodson, 1803. they had four children, including Sir John Joscelyn Coghill, 4th Baronet.
2) Anna Maria Bushe, 1819. They had eight children.
