Howard M. Allen

Howard M. Allen, 77, of 410 Chestnut Street, Versailles, died at 6:24 p.m. Monday, June 24, 1991, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Sterling. He was a retired steel mill worker having worked 35 years in East Chicago. He enjoyed bowling and golf.

Born in Versailles on March 11, 1914, he was the son of Douglas and Sara Floyd Allen. He attended Versailles schools and was a member of the Versailles Christian Church.

He married Hazel Rohn on May 9, 1935, in Versailles. She survives.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Richard Allen of Bollingbrook; one daughter, Dolores June Repko of Hammond, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 1991, at Hufnagel Funeral Home with the Rev. Shawn Doggett officiating. June Tarrant was organist.

Pallbearers were Raymond Bradbury, Glenn Kleinlein, Marion Martin, John Babb, Verlin Vandeventer and Cecil Pruden. Burial was in Versailles West Side Cemetery.

Memorial(s) were to the American Heart Association or the Versailles Christian Church. Hufnagel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
