SHIRLEY B. CLEVELAND

Shirley Cleveland died peacefully at home on April 22, 2022, with family at her side.

Shirley grew up in Michigan and married her high school beau Edward Cleveland in 1943. Ed flew bomber missions during the war and later practiced law for many years in Wisconsin and Colorado Springs. He died in 2017.

Shirley's college career was interrupted by World War II and marriage. In her 50s she returned to college, obtaining her degree in English Magna Cum Laude from UCCS at the age of 55. During that time, she also took up figure skating, achieving such skill that she once was featured in an exhibition playing tennis on ice with Olympic figure skating champion Tenley Albright.

She was an active member of Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

Shirley and Ed have four children: Michael (Wasana), Anne, John (Lynn), and Geoffrey; five surviving grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

Inurnment will be at Chapel of Our Saviour Columbarium. A private family service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Safe Place for Pets or Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
