"Jos. Stevenson Passes Away
Was Janitor of the First M. E. Church
Joseph Stevenson, janitor of the First M. E. church, died at his home in Fairplay, R.R. 4. Hamilton, at 12:45 o'clock Thursday morning of diabetes at the age of 74 years, 9 months.
He was born on November 30, 1848, in Pennsylvania, but had been a resident of Butler county for the greater part of his life.
He left to mourn his death the bereaved widow Olga T. Stevenson, two sons, Frank M. Stevenson of Hamilton and Ralph Stevenson of Pennsylvania and one daughter, Maude Tennant of Philadelphia. Two sisters, Mrs. Graham Anderson of Washington D. C., and Mrs. Anna Hough of New York, together with three step children also survive.
Mr. Stevenson had occupied the position of church janitor of the M. E. church for the past twelve years, a position which he filled with ability and efficiency.
Funeral services will take place at the home Saturday afternoon at the home at 2 o'clock (standard time) with burial in Greenwood. Rev. James H. Denney, pastor of the First M. E. church will officiate."
