FIRE PREVENTION EXPERT DIES IN WOODBURY OF INJURIES FROM BLAST
Francis K. Christine, Assitant Philadelphia Fire Marshall, Hurt Last Friday
Francis K. Christine, assistant fire marshal of Philadelphia, died suddenly late Saturday night in the Underwood Hospital, Woodbury, N.J., as a result of burns suffered on Friday night at his summer cottage near Woodbury, when a can of gasoline exploded near him as he was repairing his automobile.
Christine, who was 56 years old, and lived at 518 Belgrade street, was a fire prevention expert and assigned for many years to the task of educating the public in guarding against accidents caused by combustibles kept in and near the house.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Christine. Funeral services will be held Wednesday from his home. He was a member of St. Alban's Lodge, No. 529, F. and A.M., LuLu Temple and the Lambskin Club of this city.
At the time of the accident he was sprayed from shoulder to foot by the flaming gasoline. His wife and neighbors, responding to his cries, wrapped him in blankets and rolled him along the ground to extinguish the flames, but he was so badly burned that when he was taken to the hospital little hope was held out for his life.
