Mr. George Allen Adams, 79, of Bowersville, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson.
Born on August 23, 1942 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Emmie Eaves Harlow and step-father Ray Harlow. Mr. Adams was employed at the Monroe/Tenneco plant for 61 years and was the longest working employee there, and he even stayed as a caretaker after the plant's closure. He was also a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Lavonia where he was a member of the Allogaga Sunday School class. Mr. Adams was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690.
Survivors include his daughter: Tina Bartlett and her husband Jimmy of Bowersville, and one sister: Shirley Higgins of Tampa, FL. Mr. Adams is also survived by his special friends: Pat, Jane, Scott, and Wendy Holmes and their children; his Tenneco family and all close friends that worked by his side; and his hunting family: the Hudsons.
Mr. Adams is preceded in death by his mother & step-father; wife: Kay Allen Adams; and one sister: Frances Dye.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.
Funeral services for Mr. George Adams will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Revs. John Forbes and Ken Brewer officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Lavonia, 250 Pleasant Grove Rd, Lavonia, GA 30553.
