BRADT, James Bradt was born at Cambridge, Washington County, New York, November 9, 1807. In 1819 he moved to Oneida County, New York, where he resided until 1866, when he moved to Wayne County in the same State. He came to Iowa in 1871, settling on a farm in Calhoun County. A few years ago he moved to Rockwell City, in the same county, residing there until his death, December 19, 1894. He was converted and united with State Street Methodist Episcopal Church, Utica, New York, about 1854; was an earnest Christian, a faithful attendant upon the means of grace, and a staunch advocate of right and principle under all circumstances. He was able to attend church and Sunday-school until within a little more than a week of his death, his last service being the celebration of the Lord's Supper. His death was caused by pneumonia. The wife of his youth, three sons, and one daughter survive him.
