Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. A rosary will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 6 p.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Our sweet Sheila passed away from this life to the arms of Jesus on the beautiful morning of April 28, 2022. She was born to Raymond and Rose Mary Hawkins on July 28, 1948, in Oklahoma City. She had four brothers (Don, Mark, Gary, and Dennis) and two sisters (Janet and Anita). Her father passed away at the age of 52 when she was fourteen and her mother was charged with providing for the family. Her mom instilled in her a strong faith in God and the example of being kind to all. Sheila developed a happy go lucky, positive attitude and love for people, especially children.
While attending a high school football game, she met David, the love of her life, and after graduating from St. Joseph's academy and attending OCLA, married him in 1968. At this time, she gained some the best sisters-in-law (Elaine, Kay, Karen, and Nita) who became some of her best friends. She and David resided in Chickasha where they would go on to raise their family.
Once Sheila had Heather and Lacey, she devoted her life to being the most wonderful mother. She loved their friends as her own and displayed so much love and kindness to all. Beginning in 1996 when she had her first grandchild, she proved to be one of the best grandmothers to her eight grandchildren (Madison, McKenzie, Emily, Gabi, Ethan, Lexey, Brayden and Samuel).
Although she was a member of various social and sports clubs, her happiness was with her family and church. She served in her church by teaching religious education to children, taking Eucharist to the sick and homebound, hosting Saturday morning prayer group, and participating in various bible studies. She loved family gatherings with both her and David's families.
On Thursday morning, she peacefully passed away in her home. Those who knew her will remember her as one of the sweetest, honest, loving people to grace this Earth. Although we will miss her, we know she is happy to be with the good Lord and her loved ones (her parents, Anita, Gary, and Larkin).
She leaves surviving her husband, daughters, brothers, sister, grandchildren, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. The memories we share with her will be cherished and she will be forever missed.
