STANLEY EDWARD "ED" CLEWETT It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our Father, Stepfather, Grandfather (Gramps), Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. Stanley Edward "Ed" Clewett passed away April 17, 2022 at the age of 84, in his hometown of Paradise, California. Archaeologist, Artist, Sailor, Fly Fisher, Photographer, Cook, Gardener, and a Retired Professor from Shasta College. Everyone would agree that Ed was a man of many talents. Ed was born July 14, 1937 in Chico, California to Babe and Stan Clewett. After Ed graduated from Chico High School, he went on to study Industrial Technology at California State University, Chico, graduating with a Master's Degree. During his studies at Chico State, he became acquainted with several archeologists, which lead to his new passion of Field Archaeology. Ed married Mary Eichelberger in 1958, from Paradise, Ca. They had 3 children together; Annette, Heather and Stan. Ed and Mary divorced in 1980. Over 20 years ago, Ed retired from teaching and moved to Denmark to live with his wife, Birthe Pedersen Clewett. He met Birthe while she was on a Fulbright Scholarship in the English Department at Shasta College. His European adventures were vast, and many included Birthe's large and loving family. Ed went from studying Archaeology in the Americas to studying the Archaeology and History of the Vikings. During his time in Denmark, he bought and sold a couple of sailboats. On sunny, windy days, you would often find him out in the Faaborg Fjord. Ed was known in Denmark as the 'Pancake Cook'! He enjoyed making pancakes for the whole crew! Sunday brunches with his Danish family were his favorite. He was always the one standing up in the kitchen wearing his apron, with a coffee cup in his hand laughing and being jolly. Birthe passed away May 10, 2017 after an arduous battle with cancer. Ed then decided to move back to the U.S in 2019, ending up in Paradise, CA. In true Ed fashion he instantly began creating an apple, peach and olive orchard, along with grapes, flowers, and herbs. His love for life and adventure will forever be remembered by many. Age wasn't going to stop him from doing the things he loved; he was forever young at heart! Ed was kind, loving, caring, faithful, supportive, and wise beyond words. He was a simple man with his denim shirt, blue jeans, and cowboy hat. "Nothing too fancy" he would say. It was always the simple things he enjoyed best. Time never really seemed to matter in his world, it was more about the memories or history lesson he could share with you. Ed truly was one of a kind. He will forever be loved, remembered, and missed by many. Ed is survived by his daughters: Annette Clewett, Heather Clewett-Jachowski, his son: Stan Clewett, stepdaughters: Anne Dahl, Lene Dahl Siggaard, brothers: Howard Clewett, Pat Clewett, brother-in-laws: Finn Albers Petersen, Ulrik Pedersen, grandchildren: Stephanie Brown, Dakota Bates-Clewett, Anders Jody Laue Christensen, Lauge Dahl Siggaard, Magne Dahl Siggaard, Storm Dahl Nørgaard, great-granddaughter: Ensley Brown, and archaeology students: "The Clewites". "In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." Please join us to Celebrate Ed's life on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11:00 am. Held at the Tehama County Museum, 275 C St, Tehama, CA 96090. Catered lunch provided, but please bring a beverage of your choice, a dessert to share if you wish, lawn chair, and your favorite memory of Ed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: The Rebuild Paradise Foundation, https://www.rebuildparadise.org/, or by having a tree planted in his honor through, https://www.alivingtribute.org
