It is with profound sadness that the family of Buford Melvin Boswell announce his passing on April 30, 2022 at the age of 84 years.

Buford was born April 27, 1938 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was the oldest of five children born to Buford L. Boswell and Laura Ethel Thorn Boswell.

Buford's dad was in the military service, so before he started school his family moved around a lot - to Virginia, North Carolina, and Mississippi. They moved to Montgomery, Alabama when he started school and then moved again before he started the third grade to Robinson Springs.  He attended Robinson Springs Consolidated School through the ninth grade – except for the sixth grade, which he skipped.  Then he attended Holtville High through the twelfth grade.

He met Wyma Jones the summer between tenth and eleventh grade at Sunday School.  He said "she was wearing the prettiest yellow dress you ever saw".  They started sitting together on the school bus and dated all through high school.

He graduated from high school in 1955 and began attending Auburn University on a co-op program where he would go to school three months and work three months. On March 14, 1957, he and Wyma were married in the Robinson Springs church where they met. He worked in a laboratory at a paper mill in Brunswick, Georgia and at a welding supply outfit in Mobile, Alabama. He was driving a bread truck when his first daughter, Cheryl, was born in 1958. He had a route job for a uniform supply company for a while.  Then, he moved his family to Jacksonville to get back into the field for which he studied  and began working as a metallurgist in the laboratory at Florida Machine and Foundry.  He worked there for fourteen years, mostly night shift.

Buford and Wyma bought their first home in Jacksonville. In 1965 his second daughter, Angela "Anji" was born.  In 1976 the family moved to Houston when he took a metallurgist job at TRW Foundry.  He was laid off from TRW and had a series of contract jobs including one in Port Arthur for a while.  He and Wyma started delivering newspapers for the Houston Chronicle.  He worked at Compaq for three years.  In 1988 they bought their home in Hockley, Texas. Eventually, he and Wyma became full time Houston Chronicle Newspaper Distributors in southwest Houston until they retired in December 2007. In February 2008, Wyma, his wife of almost 51 years passed away.

After retirement, Buford enjoyed spending time with his children, grand children, great grandchildren, and dear friend, Billie Waites. He was an avid Houston Astros fan and in 2009 spent a month in Florida attending their Spring Training games. He was also a Houston Texans fan, loved playing Fantasy Football and Liar's Poker at a weekly family game night.

Buford is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl (Jim) Moeller and Anji (Barb) Boswell; three grandchildren, Robin (Kristen) Levins, Penny (David) Flores & Matt (Liz) Levins; eight great grandchildren, Heather Flores, Rachel Flores, Ally Flores, AnnaMarie Levins, AnnaBeth Levins, Eli Levins, Luke Levins & Sarah Levins all who love him dearly.Buford is preceded in death by his wife Wyma Boswell; his parents Buford & Laura Boswell; his brothers Clayton Boswell, Kenneth Boswell & Murray Boswell; his sister Jeanne Killebrew; and dear friend Billie Waites.
