Dakota, 2 May 2022. She was born on December 13, 1926 in Pueblo, Colorado, the 6th child of William Schmitz and Tillie Berens Schmitz. She grew up in Grant County, South Dakota, attended Schools there and finished her high school education in Oregon. She joined the Oregon Catholic Convent as Sister Therese Marguerite until 1970 when she moved to New York to reside with her sister's family. She married William Milton Mace, 31 July 1971 where she became a partner in the used car business at Albuquerque, New Mexico, Arizona, and Southern California. After the death of her husband in 2005 she resided in Corpus Christi, Texas before returning to South Dakota to live with her younger brother Allen and wife Char. She had been a resident of Sisseton since 2018. She leaves behind one brother, Allen Francis Jarman of Peever, South Dakota. She was preceded in Death by husband William, brothers Lawrence Schmitz of Seattle, Washington, and Wilfred Schmitz of Woodburn, Oregon; and by sisters, Virginia Marie of
Osmond, Nebraska, Leona Huffman of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Vera Klieforth of Cudahy, Wisconsin. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and other large extended family.
The Memorial Service will be held at the Peever Community Center, Peever, SD at 2:00 PM on June 11, 2022.
