CHARLESTON - James Lewis Smith, 25, student at Delta State University, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis.

Services were 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Newsom Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Copeland and Rev. Frank Ray Whitten Sr. of-ficiating. Soloist Lynn Winters and organist Donna Jo Ross provided special music. Burial was in New Smith Family Cemetery in Cascilla.

He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church at Enid and the Bapust Student Union at Northwest Mississippi Junior College where he received an Associates Degree and at Delta State University where he would have been receiving a B.A. in Business Administration in May.

He leaves his father, Billy Smith of Cascilla; his mother, Caroline Smith of Charleston; a brother, Dan Smith of Walls; and a sister, Ginger Smith and his grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M: Smith, all of Cascilla.

Pallbearers were George Mark Lewis, Brandon Lewis, Ben Kennedy, Donald Hudspeth, Max Shiff, and Stephen Winters.

The family requests that any memorials be sent to Baptist Student Union of Delta State University in Cleveland.
